Drive your Range Rover via remote control

A Smartphone Drives This Range Rover Via Remote Control

Jaguar Land Rover is showing off a prototype Range Rover Sport that can be remote-controlled via smartphone. Your James Bond fantasies are one step closer to reality.

The experimental prototype Remote Control Range Rover Sport does exactly what the name implies: Via a smartphone app, the driver can pilot the vehicle from a short distance away, controlling steering, accelerator and brake, gear shift position, and selection of high or low range.

In video demonstration, the system looks pretty nifty. Presented as an off-roader’s helper, it allows the driver to check approach and departure angles and proximity to nearby obstacles without having to hop in and out of the driver’s seat after every tiny maneuver. And for those whose Range Roving doesn’t extend beyond the shopping center parking lot, we see that the system could be plenty helpful when inattentive drivers park too close for you to enter your driver’s door.

What kind of driver would do that? Jaguar Land Rover seems to pinpoint a particular brand of car owner:

Now, of course, there are limitations: The system—which, we must emphasize, is entirely experimental at the moment—only works if the user is within about 30 feet (10 meters) of the vehicle, and the car will automatically stop if the driver gets too close or too far away. And the car will only accelerate up to 4 mph while under smartphone control.

Land Rover also showed off a new Multi-Point Turn feature, where the car can autonomously perform a tight turnaround, taking care of shifting, accelerating, braking and steering all by itself.

XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao

XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao

Design
ed to offer a unique driving experience, the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao seats two passengers and looks to offer the high performance of a lightweight sports car. The styling of the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao is unique as well, being part sports car and part buggy.  It’s open top design, wide, scooped body and large wheels speak of a dune buggy while its lower chassis and wide stance are all for sport handling. Designed to offer a unique driving experience, the hybrid XSeed concept vehicle by designer Marcos Beltrao seems to have taken it one step further. The XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao appears to have married the idea of an electric buggy and aroadster together, thus allowing the the hybrid concept can be operated with gas and ethanol as well as an electric engine.

The 1600cc four-cylinder engine that the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao is powered by makes it a strong proposal for the sports cars market while its low weight and innovative design ensures a stand out yet economical performance on the road. The electric engine (thrusters located on each wheel), running alone or in combination with the flex engine produces excellent fuel economy.

The two engines together produce 225horsepower, making the car go from 0mph to 60mph in 4.5s. Due to the extremely lightweight and strong materials used in the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao, it reaches 760kg of overallweight. While driving the car, the batteries that power the electric

Made of carbon nanotubes, the tubular structure of the vehicle’s frame allows it to maintain a relatively low weight. The ceramic compound used to fashion the engine also helps in weight savings since it is much lighter than an engine made of aluminum only. Thanks to the silicon added to the ceramic, the engine is that it requires no cooling or lubrication and lasts longer. With lubrication and cooling being redundant features, the engine also does not need to have a radiator, hoses, pipes, filters and water and oil pumps which results in further space and weight savings for the vehicle. As a result, it loses weight and gains space and speed. The ceramic engine has its main components made of the same material. This composite has a very low thermal expansion coefficient and it resists extreme temperatures, exceeding metals.

Magnesium alloy is used to fashion the swanky 22-inch alloys on the vehicle. Each wheel is also fitted with independent suspension while carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used to fashion the exterior of the vehicle to further reduce the weight of the vehicle. The vehicle has an overall weight of 760kg thanks to the strong yet extremely lightweight materials used in its creation.

Besides the engine and chassis being lighter, all car plastic parts are manufactured using the MuCell technology that reduces the weight of the material in about 25% without a significant lossin strength. This technology is based on the addition of carbon dioxide and /or nitrogen in the plastic injection process. The external body is made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) that results in a weight loss around 15% compared to the same in aluminum. The XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao has independent suspension in eachwheel. The wheels of 22 inches are made of magnesium alloy.

Everything about the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao is based on current technologies being developed and so everything on the concept car is a real possibility. A very cool designthrustersare recharged by the regenerative brakes and shock absorbers system, which recover energy from brakes and oscillation of the shock absorbers. Thus, the autonomy of the XSeed Hybrid Sports Cars Concept by Marcos Beltrao increases up to 60%. and thoughtful amalgamation of several new-tech possibilities. Hopefully Marcos Beltrao, the man behind this concept will soon bring this car into production to make our dreams come true.

Golden Lamborghini!

Tesla's Model S out for a test drive!

Tesla Motors says its electric sedan sales have exceeded the guidance it laid out two months ago and it expects to show a profit in the first quarter, a big victory for small high-tech automaker.

Tesla stock jumped $6.64 or more than 17%, to $44.53 on the news early Monday.
But customers who want to try to jump on the bandwagon to own one of the chic electric cars on the cheap may be in for a disappointment.

The electric car maker has announced that it's not going to offer its cheapest version of the Model S sedan, the starter model that was originally priced at about $57,000.

The California automaker says that orders for the car were so low, at about 4% of the mix, that it isn't worth making the 40 kilowatt-hour battery pack version. Instead, the company will focus on two higher-watt versions.

Tesla says it is scoring both on sales and production. It made 4,750 cars in the first quarter and none languished on sales lots. All are destined for customers who placed orders. The output was 250 cars more than Tesla had promised in a February letter to shareholders laying out its first-quarter guidance.

The company says all those cars will be the more expensive versions now that it has decided to stop taking orders for the base 40 kWh model.

With the 40 kWh no longer in the mix, the cheapest Tesla becomes the 60 kWh Model S , which is is government rated at 208 miles per charge . The top model is the 85 kWh version, which can go 265 miles on a single charge, the most of any major electric car in the market.

Most electric cars have ranges of less than 100 miles per charge, so the long range is what has set Tesla apart from the crowd.

For those who have already ordered one of the 40 kWh Model S sedans, Tesla says it's going to give them one with the 60 kWh that has been electronically limited. It will offer the range of the 40 kWh car they ordered. But they will always have the option of paying more to upgrade the car to full 60 kWh capability.

Tesla says in its announcement that customers are getting a better-than-expected deal because the cars will come with the hardware necessary to use the company's Supercharger fast-charging units, which it's putting outside metropolitan areas to boost the car's range.

Using the Supercharger, for instance, it says Tesla Model S owners can easily drive between Los Angeles and either Las Vegas or San Francisco. Their cars' batteries can be charged at a Supercharger in the few minutes it takes for a lunch stop along the way.
